Complexity in Implementation
- Response: While implementing dynamic shard composition and BFT mechanisms may require sophisticated technology, the benefits far outweigh the complexities. The enhanced security, scalability, and efficiency provided by PoR-BFT are crucial for the long-term success of cryptocurrency networks.
Potential for Node Manipulation
- Response: In Phase 1, validators that fall out of sync — whether through latency, divergent state, or active manipulation — are excluded from shard composition for affected blocks via passive sync filtering. The CVSA pseudorandom seed (SHA-256 over recent block hashes) ensures the eligible validator set is shuffled fairly into shards; the sync filter ensures only currently-valid validators enter that pool. Active slashing of stake for provable misbehaviour is a Phase 2 capability — not yet shipped. See Validator Lifecycle for current validator state transitions.
